We are back with the review of a new smartphone OnePlus 3, which is made by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus. Sticking to their ‘NEVER SETTLE’ mantra, OnePlus is back with its flagship device – OnePlus 3. This is the first time that OnePlus is launching its flagship phone completely open, without any invite system. The predecessor OnePlus 1 and OnePlus 2 were very successful and the newly launched OnePlus 3 have started ruling the market with it flagship spec for half the price. Lets get into the complete review of OnePlus 3.
In the box of OnePlus 3:

- Wall charger (5V – 4A)
- USB-C to USB cable
- User manual
- Sim ejector
Design and Display
The one thing about OnePlus 3 which have improved a lot from the previous device is its design. The OnePlus 3 body is carved out of single piece of aluminum and gives the feel of high end flagship device. There is nothing extra ordinary in terms of design though it looks a little HTC like. The rear camera bumps up from the backside which is also similar to many new Samsung or Hauwei phones. The display is of 5.5 inch and 1080 pixels which remains same as OnePlus 1 and 2 device.
The right-side houses the power button and the dual nano-SIM tray(No Hybrid Sim option), while the left features volume control and the alert slider. The textured alert slider lets users switch between silent, all notifications or priority notifications without unlocking the device. The upside of the phone is neat and clean, where as the bottom is pretty similar with the iPhone 6s design where there is a speaker USB type C charging slot, the main microphone and next to it, the 3.5mm jack. The back is sleek metal broken only by the OnePlus logo and the 16MP camera and single LED flash.
The complete body measurements are 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35mm and also there is a fingerprint scanner in the front bottom and two capacitive button aside it. Measuring only 7.3mm in depth, it ranks among the thinnest flagships out there and with a weight of 158 g, it is both surprisingly thin and light for a metal-clad phone.
OnePlus 3 is also known as a Future Proof Smartphone as it has the latest processor which is Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The OnePlus 3 also have Adreno 530 GPU to improve the graphics of the phone. When we check the CPU performance of the phone with GeekBench 3(multi-core) we found that it comes 3rd , just below Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Huawei Mate 8. The smartphone with the price of just half of the high end flagship device with such an amazing performance report makes it a good buy.
There is the 6GB of RAM inside this never settle device. This has a lot to do with marketing, having the first mass-market phone with 6 gigs of RAM gives it a lot of publicity, but in real-life, OnePlus is killing apps just as it would do with its OnePlus 2 that had 4GB RAM. We do hope that RAM management is improved in a future software update, but so far, the benefit of 6GB of RAM is limited by OnePlus’ own software.
The OnePlus 3 uses a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298, a 1/2.8” sensor. It also features phase-detection pixels for faster auto-focus, which is a nice touch, but nothing new. On top of the sensor is an f/2.0 lens with an effective focal distance of 29mm. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter. The camera app of OnePlus 3 is clean and cool. The Image quality of OnePlus 3 is amazing where as the video quality can be better.
The OnePlus 3 is equipped with a sealed-in 3,000mAh battery. It is a bit less than the OnePlus 2 but it is fair amount of juice to operate a complete day with average usage. However, with a bigger battery we wouldn’t have a device that is quite so thin and light.
The OnePlus’s Oxygen OS, now on version 3.1.2 on top Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, is a pretty clean yet refined OS. The system-wide dark mode with accent color looks pretty cool on the AMOLED display. The Shelf feature, which dedicates a homescreen pane to display weather, take quick memos, add frequent contacts, apps and even widgets, is simply great.
