WhatsApp Web Reportedly Getting Picture-in-Picture Mode, ‘Reply Privately’ Option

WhatsApp is now rolling its Picture-in-Picture mode to desktops through a new update to the WhatsApp Web. A month ago, this feature of WhatsApp is added to mobile devices. The new update is also reported to add the option of Reply privately mode which allows users to privately reply to a message they received in a group. Earlier this month, WhatsApp added a new Restricted Group setting which helps administrator to restrict a group member from sending text messages, photographs, video, GIFs, documents, or voice messages.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp team has submitted he version 0.2.7315 of its Web client which includes the two new features. The first feature is a Picture-in-Picture mode which allows users to watch videos in a separate pop-up screen. The screen includes controls such as play/ pause button, volume controller, and timeline slider.

New icon in WhatsApp enables the Picture-in-Picture video content in a new screen, it lets you continue your chats or any other works on the existing screen. This new video-centric feature works similarly as Picture-in-Picture mode available on the mobile versions of WhatsApp. WhatsApp Picture-in-Picture mode was released in September for a beta user.

Coming to the second feature, the WhatsApp Web update includes Reply privately option which allows you to communicate with one of your group members privately. As per WABetaInfo report, the screenshot shows that WhatsApp includes a new option that will be available alongside the existing ‘Reply’ and ‘Forward message’ options and will quote the group message alongside your private message. In addition to WhatsApp Web, the new feature to privately send messages to group members would be expected to roll out on the Android and iOS versions of WhatsApp in comings months.

There is no the exact date of the rollout of these features. Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly testing invite via link feature which is already available for iOS version. But now it will roll for Android platform also. The feature enables group admins to send a link to other users so they can join the group directly.
