Reliance enters the 4G market with 4 new smartphones under LYF Brand
Reliance Jio Infocomm which is a part of Reliance retail, has announced itself in the ever so growing market of 4g mobile manufacturers with the brand named LYF. The company reported that it will launch premium phones ranging from 4k to 25k in four phases namely- Earth, Water, Wind and Fire.
The first rollout phase was Earth 1, Water 1, Water 2 and Water 3, while Fire and Wind series will be revealed in the subsequent phases. The phones haven’t yet been made available for customers as the company is running beta tests by providing these phones to it’s employees. So to get your hands on one of these you have to wait till late December or be an employee of Reliance.
This launch comes after the news of US-based portable chip creator Qualcomm was said to be working with Reliance Jio on creating and growing VoLTE innovation based device ecosystem. Reliance Jio wants to charm clients with its LYF range of smart phones that have elements like voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-FI), HD voice and HD-quality video calling.
The Water series are all mid-range phones set to compete with some hot sellers like One Plus X, Moto X Play and newly launched moto G Turbo Edition. All three phones come with Octa-Core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processors and support Graphic Processor Unit (GPU) Adreno405 @ 550 MHz. Water 1,2 and 3 all come with onboard 32gb storage which will be expandable upto 64gb.These phone feature 15mp rear snapper and a 5mp front facing camera to provide efficient picture quality. Water 1 would sport android lollipop 5.1.1 while water 2 and 3 will have lollipop 5.0.2.The pricings have been done strategically to attract buyers and let them make a choice by comparing these phones with other competitors. Price of LYF Water 1, LYF Water2, and LYF Water 3 are INR 17,399, INR 15,499, and INR 16,799, respectively.
The other noticeable launch was LYF Earth 1 which is a premium phone ranged INR 25,800.It sports out-of-the-box lollipop 5.1.1 and will compete with the likings of One Plus Two and Moto X Style. It will have a larger display and would have similar configs as in the water series. These models are said to have battery life ranging from 2400mAh to 3500mAh.
The smartphones will be distributed through Reliance Digital which has a network of 1,379 stores deployed over 225 cities. Soon, all the variants will then be made available for online sales on leading-marketplaces like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal.
