OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has recently confirmed after he posted on the community forum about the launch of the OnePlus Watch and an hour later, he confirmed that the watch will not be running on WearOS which is developed by Google for smartwatches. However, we can expect the watch to have the base of Android for its upcoming Smartwatch. He also said that the watch will be based on RTOS which stands for Real-Time Operating System.
We chose to go with a smart wear operating system developed based on RTOS because we believe it provides you a smooth and reliable experience while offering a great battery life, covering some of the biggest concerns we’ve been hearing from people looking to buy a smartwatch.-Pete Lau in OnePlus Forum
The post on the forum also mentions that the smartwatch will be launched with the upcoming OnePlus 9 Series which will debut on 23 March 2021 and the event is scheduled at 7:30 PM IST. Pete Lau didn’t provide any details about the smartwatch but he said in the post stating that it will come with fashionable designs, provide seamless connectivity and deliver a best-in-class user experience.
We won’t give away too much right now, but we’ll leave you with this for now: Our priority for devices that are part of the OnePlus ecosystem is to offer fashionable designs, provide seamless connectivity and deliver a best-in-class user experience. And the new OnePlus Watch is no exception.-Said Pete Lau
