Micromax, Nokia To Launch Cheaper Android Go Smartphones

Google has made a big announcement at the Google for India conference, Google announced that they aim to launch 400+ Android Go devices globally this year, partnering with 150+ OEMs. Google also has a tie-up with Indian smartphone companies like Lava, Micromax, and Nokia and Transsion for creating ultra-budget smartphones featuring Android Go for Indian users. Samsung will also launch its first ever Android Go device, the Galaxy J2 Core, in September 2018.

Google has modified OS and made it lightweight in order to bring the best features of the latest Android OS to affordable devices. They also redesigned basic applications like Maps, Files, and YouTube. Android Go also comes with quicker security updates, an additional 50MB storage and faster boot times. Google is also working on making Google Assistance more accessible to Indian users thereby adding seven more Indian languages in the coming months.

Google is also planning to include “Hinglish” which is a mixture of two languages which are Hindi and English. In addition to Assistant, Google Home will also support Hindi.
