Google Trips Launched Along With Updates For Google Flights

by Siddhant ShetgeDecember 18, 2017

With the end of 2017, many people are already making travel plans for 2018. In order to book a flight and search for a hotel, Google has announced a few new features in its travel-related products. For better experience during this travel season, Google Flights has received a major new update which offers Tips to make hotel booking cost-effective. On the other hand, Google Trips also comes with a Discounts feature.

Google Trips:

Google has introduced a new version of Google Trips app which has many discounts features. The app will give direct access to deals on tickets and tours which is related to top attractions and activities. The discount feature is now available in the latest version of the Google Trips app.

Google VP of Travel Products Richard Holden said in a blog post, “Book and save on a tour of the Mayan ruins near Cancun, or get priority access to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. No matter where you’re headed, Trips makes it easy to browse and access fun stuff to do on your vacation without breaking the bank.”

Google Flights:

Earlier in August, Google flight was upgraded with Tips feature, which recommends you to save air travel costs. Tip feature was limited only for flight booking. But now Google is using machine learning and statistical analysis of historical flights data to suggest these tips. Tips are available, even you pick a hotel for your stay. You will receive tips for your hotel bookings when room rates are higher than usual. It will also show if the area is busier than usual due to a holiday or in case of any music concert or a business conference. Because of this, you can avoid the busy dates and get the hotels at an affordable charge.

Richard Holden, VP of Travel Products at Google wrote in a blog post, “A tip would say that “prices are less than normal” and by how much to indicate you’d spotted a deal. Or, if prices tend to remain steady for the date and place you’re searching for, a tip would indicate the price “won’t drop further” based on our price prediction algorithms.”

In addition to tips about the change in prices, you can track hotel price on your smartphone. Get email alerts about price drops on your choices of hotels. This feature will also be available on the desktop version of Google Flights site in 2018. Do try this feature and let us know your feedback in our comment section below.
