Google Maps added a new feature of Two Wheeler Mode. Some users in India are reporting seeing a new Two-Wheeler mode in the latest version of Google Maps (v9.67.1) for Android. The new mode is placed along with the earlier alternatives i.e Car, Foot, and Train. There are lots of people in the world who ride motorcycles, especially in more crowded areas. This feature is slowly being released to the Indian users and might take a few days or weeks to reach to all Android users.
The Google’s new Two Wheeler Mode will help many bikers in the country to find the route which is suitable for their vehicles. Launching this feature in India is making sense as a substantial chunk in the country. It even takes a narrow route that is not wide enough for bigger vehicles to fit in it. There is still no official update when it will launch this feature for all users.
“India is the largest two-wheeler market in the world, and the millions of motorcycle and scooter riders have different navigation needs than drivers of automobiles. Two-wheeler mode in Maps shows trip routes that use “shortcuts” not accessible to cars and trucks. It also provides customized traffic and arrival time estimations. And since so many Indians rely on local landmarks for navigation, two-wheeler mode will show major landmarks on the route so that riders can plan their trip before starting, and don’t have to keep checking the phone on the go,” Google said in a statement.
According to report, the Two Wheeler Mode has first seen in India by Indian Users. Recently Google CEO Sundar Pichai comment that India is playing an important role in improving Google Maps and other Google products. For countries like India, the Two Wheeler Mode will play an important role for all bikers. It will include the faster route with many shortcuts, which is normally not available for cars.
It also gives you a parking information at your destination. This is a very handy feature that was earlier seen in the car mode. Additionally, Google ‘s Two Wheeler Mode just came after Google started the rolled out of its visual changes. Recently the company launched a visual revamp of the Maps. It improves the driving, navigation, transit mode and helps to explore maps easily. Google changes the Maps color scheme and icons to make easier for users to find what they are looking for.
