Gboard v7.3 Gets OCR Tool, Battery Saver Mode With Dark Theme, and More

Gboard is a normal keyboard app which gets monthly updates from Google. As Google keeps on adding interesting features and improving the performance for its users. With a new update, Google is testing few new features which include OCR tools, battery saver mode, custom text, and more. Google has rolled out the latest beta update of Gboard v7.3 for Android users.

According to 9to5Google report, the Gboard v7.3 has a number of new features. So without wasting any time let us take a quick look on it. Talking about the new feature, the app gets new Battery Saver mode which saves your smartphone’s battery. With Gboard Keyboard app, you can switch to dark theme mode and also disable some of the other features like Stickers or Bitmoji. However, a user can manually enable or disable the battery saver mode to save the battery of their smartphone.

As per the report, the Gboard v7.3 also get OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature which appears as a tool apart from Google Translate, GIF, and sticker shortcuts. The OCR feature will be used to click an image and grab the text for copying and pasting. This feature is similar to the Google Lens, but it would be very easy to use within the Gboard app.

The app also gets low storage warning feature which will inform users when there is not enough storage space to download more Bitmoji or sticker packs. Moreover, with Gboard app, users can get an option to add a favorite sticker which helps them for quicker access.

Gboard app also features a Universal Media tab which comes with a combined panel of emoji, stickers, and GIFs. Also, it has a new Autospace after punctuation feature that automatically inserts a space after punctuation. The Autospace feature is only available in Beta version which works only in US English language.

The reports also suggest that the app will get an ability to annotate images by adding multi-colored text to it. Meanwhile, Google brings the ability to add text to GIFs. Moreover, users can add, edit or delete text while working on GIF.
