Last year Google has introduced Android Oreo (Go Edition) phones which comes with an optimized version of Android Oreo. Basically, Android Go smartphone is made for a low-end device which consists of 1GB RAM or less. Now Google has revealed that we could see the first set of Android Oreo (Go edition) phones starting next week. That means the phone will run an optimized version of Android Oreo and it will launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona, which will start on February 26.
Google has claimed that the phones are less expensive and can be sold at an affordable price of $50 or less than it. Google is also expecting to provide its Augmented Reality efforts on Android by unleashing ARCore at the event. With a smaller amount of storage and processing power, it can provide a high-quality experience with the latest version of Android in it.
Hiroshi Lockheimer, Senior Vice President, Platforms & Ecosystems said in a blog post, “Starting next week, you’ll see the first set of Android Oreo (Go edition) phones, and soon after they’ll be available for you to purchase.”
However, Google has not confirmed the names of the phone that will ship with Android Oreo (Go Edition). But as per the report, Nokia 1 could be the first Android Go smartphone. Also, Micromax has announced the Bharat Go and it will be the company’s first Android Go smartphone.
Android Go Phones comes with an optimized version of Android Oreo 8.1. Even it works smoothly with a smartphone which has only 512MB of RAM. The Android Go phones include many inbuilt apps such as Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, YouTube Go, Google Assistant Go, and Files Go.
Google promises a software update with the low price range. It wants to fix the issue before devices start shipping with the latest operating system. Also, leading chip makers Qualcomm and MediaTek have already confirmed their chipset for this Android Go phones.
