OnePlus Confirms 120Hz ‘Fluid Display’ Destined for the OnePlus 8

In an event hosted by OnePlus in China, the company’s CEO Pete Lau unveiled the next-generation display that comes with a smoother 120Hz refresh rate, which is much higher than the 90Hz display on the existing OnePlus 7T Pro. Though the 120Hz refresh rate display is going to be a complete change there is even more to the display than the higher refresh rate

The Oneplus 8 series is expected to arrive with three variants, OnePlus 8 Lite, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. The Lite version is most likely to not have the new display. From the design perspective, OnePlus had changed its design last year. So as far as design is concerned, the new handset is expected to follow the footsteps of One Plus 7. However, there are leaks that OnePlus is planning to remove the pop-up camera in favor of a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.

The phone is expected to be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip and it will be accompanied by 12GB RAM. Hence a smother user experience is expected with the Oxygen OS. The upcoming OnePlus device is expected to have a bigger 4500mAh battery.

It is observed that every new generation of OnePlus comes with a hike in price. The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to have a starting price of more than Rs 60,000. That will help it take on the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the iPhone 11.


There is no official news about the launch of the upcoming OnePlus smartphone series. However, it is expected that the OnePlus 8 series could launch in March just after Samsung’s Galaxy S20 goes on sale in the market globally.
