Google Hangouts Update Adds Stickers, Smart Location and Video Filter
Google’s Hangouts Android App is getting a major update today. This update of Hangouts for Android introduces stickers, smart suggestions in conversations, timestamps, and much more. Google Vice President Bradley Horowitz debuted the new features on stage at LeWeb 2014 in Paris. He promised that there are many new features to come. He also added – “We’re still just getting started,”.
Among the fun new features are 16 new sticker pages and a couple of Easter eggs, you just need to type “woot” or “happy birthday” or “hahaha” into a chat to see what those look like after you’ve installed the update. On the visual side, you can also now apply filters to your video chats such as sepia, vignette, black and white and few more.
The new update also bring the new feature of Last Seen timestamp. So no you don’t need to ask “Are you there?” , you just need to check the last seen of the contact and save your few taps. Another new feature is to add your location in the chat. You just hit the attachment paperclip icon, then select Location from the options, and then send.
The Google Hangouts App for Android is not just becoming new and cool, but it is also becoming smart. If the person send you the message asking “Where Are You Now?” . The Chat screen suggest you to share your location.
Hangouts lets you focus on the people you love talking to, so your conversations feel as in-the-moment and natural as they do in real life. This new update of Google Hangouts will boost people to use it more and it comes in real competition with WhatsApp , Hike, Line and many other IM apps available on the Google Play Store.
