It took almost one and half year after the global launch of this spectacular media streaming device to reach India. Google have finally made this Google Chromecast device available to Indian market with the price of 2,999 Indian Rupees.
Google had unveiled the Chromecast on July 24 2013. The device is essentially a small thumb drive-like stick that can be plugged into an HDMI port on LED/LCD TVs. It allows users to stream content from video services like Hulu, Netflix, Google’s YouTube and content from Google Play.
Google has also tied up with Airtel to offer up to 60GB broadband data free with every purchase of Chromecast. The 60GB free data is also available to existing Airtel broadband subscribers. The Snapdeal listing for the Chromecast also reveals two months free subscription of Eros Now Premium content. Notably, the offer is only available to new Eros Now Premium subscribers.
The device is sold in the US at $35 (Rs 2,165 approximately) but in the country like India it will sold at bit high price of approx $48 i.e. Rs 2,999. The Google Chromecast is also listed on the Google Play Store but it still shows Coming Soon. In India, Chromecast currently supports YouTube and Google Play Movies, as well as apps from partners like Eros Now, Spuul and YuppTV.
