Five Best Water-Resistant Phones You Can Use This Monsoon

by Lokesh AroraJuly 7, 2016

Monsoons are here and we all love the splash of the season, don’t we? We all like to behave like a child when we see rains and have fun under the droplets as it only comes for a month and then we wait for an entire year. But one thing that we all hate is when water seeps-in into our smartphones and we are doomed. Then we need to visit and revisit the service centers and get a bargain to get our phones fixed. All that gives a headache big time and then we regret the fun that we had in the rains!! If you were looking for water-resistant phones this season, and was confused what to go for.

Water-Resistant Phones

The Above Android team is here to the rescue with this write-up where we pick 5 water-resistant phones that have been tried and tested and can be used in this monsoon season without the fear of getting damaged.

1. Sony Experia Z5

Sony Experia Z5

Sony was the pioneer in this category and foremost smartphone brand to come up with the waterproofed smartphone and hence we can easily say why this one tops our list of phones which can fit in and stay undamaged while you have your monsoon fun. Some of the specifications include a Quad Core 2GHz processor, 3GB RAM, 5.2 inch display, 23 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera and 2900 mAh battery. The Sony Xperia Z5 is currently priced at around Rs 36,990.

2. Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Sony Experia Z5

A phone that can survive the twist and tumble of a washing machine would survive anything, don’t you think.Yes, both these phones can stay submerged into water for 30 minutes and have been tested successfully, have IP68 water resistance ratings. Although, you need 55k before you think of buying it and I can easily jump to the conclusion that it is worth every penny.

3. Motorola Moto X Play

Hello Moto!!Well it is the most waterproof phone when compared to all others in the list and has been a hit since it has been launched. The phone comes with Hexa Core 1.8 Ghz Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB RAM, 5.7 inch display, Gorilla Glass, 5 MP Front and 21 MP primary cameras and 3000 mAh battery. With all these specifications and being water-resistant the phone is attractively priced at around Rs 26,999.

4. HTC Desire Eye

HTC Desire Eye

The Desire Eye is HTC’s waterproof smartphone that was launched late last year. It has excellent specifications – 13 megapixel camera on the back and another 13 megapixel camera on the front for great selfies. Dual LED flash both on the front and back, which isn’t common in most smartphones today. The phone has a funky design and colours which should appeal to the fairer sex. The Desire Eye also has 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 processor, 5.2 inch full HD display and IPX7 certification making it water-resistant up to 3 feet for a period of 30 minutes.

5.  Moto G3

This one’s the most inexpensive on the list, like below 15k and you get a waterproof smartphone it’s a steal deal. The Motorola Moto G (3rd Generation) comes with IPX7 level protection, which means you could dip it in water upto a depth of 3 feet for 30 minutes or so. Since we have the Moto G 3rd Gen with us, we tested it by dipping the phone in water for around 20-25 minutes. The phone was in working condition, even though we had to wipe off water that was inside the back panel. Apart from water resistance, Moto G is also a excellent smartphone. It comes with a 13 megapixel camera, Snapdragon 410 processor and 5 inch HD display.

Well we’ve picked this list with precision and hope it helps in case you wish to play in this season’s rain without thinking much about the phone in the pocket. Did I miss any phone, comments are welcome!!
