HOOQ is Asia’s first premium video-on-demand service to launch across the region and it is now launched in India. HOOQ is Asia’s first premium video-on-demand service to launch across the region.  HOOQ is a start-up joint venture established in January 2015 by Singtel, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros. HOOQ has now landed in India after giving service to Philippines and Thailand. The company said that the video entertainment service is now launched in Thailand and India, extending its reach to over 1.4 billion users in the region.

Krishnan Rajagopalan, the Co-Founder, Chief Content and Distribution Officer @ HOOQ said today at Hooq Mumbai launch event that ” Hooq is now being launched in India with the monthly subscription of only 199 Rs. The Hooq is having the largest catalogue  of  Hollywood movies and TV shows and Bollywood movies and it provides video streaming in really high quality which will surely satisfy the consumers.”

He also added, “The main things is that a user with single subscription can add upto 5 devices including mobile phones and tablets, via an app and mobile web, desktop computers and Android set-top boxes. HOOQ will stay premium by keeping away from content that is already available on free ad-supported platforms like YouTube. ”

The service includes content from studio partners such as Warner Bros, Miramax, Sony Pictures, Disney Dreamworks and few more. The Hooq app will also support content from Indian Studios such as YRF, Rajshree Production, Whacked Out Media Sri Balaji, AP International and 50 other Studios. The Hooq app will also show regional content for Indian users such as Telgu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, and few more.

The Global video Streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu staying away from India, this is a big chance for Hooq to grab users in India. The other competitor to Hooq in India is Hotstar which showcase movies, TV shows and Sports Matches but doesn’t have big catalogue like hooq.

The Hooq app is now in beta version and it is being tested for Indian Market. It is expected that Hooq will released for the Indian Market by mid June and then all users can subscribe for Rs 199 per month. The payment options available are Net banking, Credit and Debit card and also via PayTM.
